into the blue - stuffings and news

Earlier this month, Katy and I led our retreat, A World of Pressure: Mothers Daughters and the Stories that Shape Us. 17 women, including 15 mothers of daughters (or MODs as we affectionately dubbed them), gathered together in Shelburne Vermont, and created time and space to learn, share, connect, listen, and support each other. I applaud these women for having the courage and faith to come on this retreat--it took a great deal of effort (to leave their motherships), strength (to listen to and support others without judgment or reaction), and bravery (to share their un-edited stories and vulnerabilities). We cannot raise daughters who are authentic, capable of giving and asking for help, and unafraid to be imperfect and walk to the beat of their own drum if we don't first show them what this looks like.

In case you don't know already, the above retreat was born in response to the work Katy and I are doing with college-age women. Together, we have created a curriculum titled, There Is Another Way, which we are currently piloting with the Women's Varsity Soccer Team at Middlebury College. The curriculum consists of a series of workshops designed to lay the ground work for these young women to write/reclaim the narrative about the place that work will occupy in their lives, while disrupting the fallacy of a linear path. The workshops include yoga, meditation, and opportunities to hear from and share stories with other women.

Drumroll please...Next week, I'm signing a lease for a space RIGHT HERE in Hamilton that will house Blue Light. I'm finally going to have a LOCAL space to offer all I've got to give. There will be Blue Light Yoga classes and Cake classes (read on to learn about CAKE); I will also offer Blue Light Counseling and MANY collaborations and workshops for you to be part of. Stay tuned.
P.S. For all my Boston peeps: the new space is walking distance from the Hamilton train station!

You haven't heard about my Cake classes yet?! Well...the idea is if you take my Cake classes, you can eat your cake too! Cake is what has come out of many many many hours on my mat in my home practice. It is a low-impact, high-intensity class that focuses on strengthening and honing stabilizing and core muscles. Cake classes are one hour and end with 15 minutes of asana.

What's next? SO MUCH! But here, I'll focus on my next big collaboration with Erin Carney. Hopefully you already know that we are leading a retreat on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, March 28-April 4, 2020. This retreat is for friends, solo travelers, families, and couples looking to do some or all of the following: immerse yourself in the natural world; learn how to surf; practice yoga daily under a palapa with the surf crashing in the background; eat delicious locally-sourced food cooked right there on the property; explore a rainforest jungle full of monkeys, macaws, and sloths; swim in a waterfall; swing in a hammock for hours on end; gallop down a beach; indulge in a mud facial or massage; add some real adventure to your 2020. Email me and I'll send you the details!

You've never experienced the Erin and Georgia Dynamic Duo!? Well you're in luck! Erin flies in from CA today, and we're meeting up at Treetop Yoga on Saturdayat 2:30pm to teach a 90-minute class. We've designed a thoughtful, fun, and creative flow along with a super groovy playlist to help you ground down and brighten up as we move out of Thanksgiving into the holiday season. And simply by practicing with us, you will donate $10 towards a holiday basket to a family in need in our community. You can sign up here. P.S. It will be a great opportunity to put down your deposit for Costa Rica!

Are you interested in Blue Light Counseling? Blue Light Counseling (BLC) approaches individuals holistically, and utilizes mindfulness practices that empower clients to manifest positive change in areas of their lives that feel stuck, out of balance, or inauthentic. BLC is intended to be short term and help clients achieve their goal(s) efficiently and always through a lens of sustainability. Sessions are 50 minutes and incorporate yoga, meditation, and counseling. Please email me if you're interested in learning more or having a free consultation session.
